An attorney for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee says State Attorney General Josh Kaul doesn’t have the authority to investigate sexual abuse by Catholic clergy in the state.
Kaul recently announced an investigation into past abuse claims, but the Archdiocese says the investigation may have an anti-religious motivation. Attorney Frank LoCoco says the investigation is looking too far back in time and seems to be a product of anti-Catholic bigotry. Kaul says the investigations will move forward as they pursue accountability and healing.
