There is some disagreement about federal money at the Wisconsin Capitol.
Democratic lawmakers say by not spending enough in state dollars on schools, Wisconsin is jeopardizing one-and-a-half-billion-dollars in federal money. The Republicans who write the state budget aren’t so sure. They think the 500-million they’ve proposed for schools over the next two years is enough to guarantee the federal match. The sticking point is that 350-million of that 500-million isn’t going to be spent until next year.
