The Memorial Day weekend means most people will be spending time outdoors, where hopefully the weather is good.
But the National Weather Service reminds Wisconsinites that weather can change quickly and it’s important to keep an eye on the sky and know the forecast. Having a way to receive alerts like with a NOAA Weather Radio or a mobile device with wireless emergency alerts enabled are the best ways to stay up-to-date with any change or severe weather.
Firing up the grill on Memorial Day weekend is a rite of passage into summer.
But fire departments around Wisconsin are reminding people about the dangers of fire. Officials say follow the manufacturer’s recommendation on the proper use of a grill and never leave it unattended. They also say to have a fire extinguisher readily available, use lighter fluid sparingly and maintain a safe zone of at least three feet around the grill. Also, the proper extinguishing of fire and embers whether in a grill or a fire pit can be lifesaving.
