The head of Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction says schools across the state need more money than ever.
State Superintendent Jill Underly yesterday said schools have been changed forever because of the coronavirus, and she said they need more money than ever. Top Republicans at the state Capitol say Wisconsin has over two-billion dollars in stimulus money to spend solely on schools over the next two years. They are suggesting that the state may not send schools any new dollars. Underly says if the state doesn’t send more money, some schools may not be able to afford to give their teachers a raise.
