The newest officer for Eau Claire Police will help shift the city’s focus on mental health.
The department this week announced it’s looking to hire a Co-Response Coordinator. Their job will be to answer calls where police think someone needs mental health assistance. Chief Matt Rokus says it’s part of the city’s goal to address mental health needs. The chief says the new responder will ride along on calls, and be able to offer assistance and/or help people get the follow-up help that they need.
