Charities and local groups across Wisconsin are going to have to find another draw for their fundraisers.
Governor Tony Evers on Friday vetoed a plan that would have legalized paddlewheel raffles. The governor says they’re not raffles, they are gambling, and expressly prohibited under state law. It is the second time in a year the governor has vetoed plans to change the laws for paddlewheels. State Senator André Jacque, who wrote the proposal, says the governor appears to have it ‘in for’ the charities and social groups that want to use the wheels to raise money.
