A one year old child was in the car during an OWI arrest.
It was on Saturday, May 22nd at approximately 4:46 PM, A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on Highway 2 at Deep Lake Road near Iron River.
The Trooper observed that the driver,24-year-old Ashley Taylor Ameli showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Ms. Ameli was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. She was subsequently arrested and charged with operating while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance while having a child passenger in the vehicle, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 1-year-old passenger was turned over to Bayfield County Dept. of Human Services to wait to be picked up by a responsible party.
