The following message was released regarding masks in the Eau Claire Area School District:
On Tuesday evening, the City of Eau Claire/Eau Claire County removed the mask mandate that had been in place in our community. This has led to some questions regarding whether the ECASD will adjust its mask policy, as well.
We will continue to require our students and staff to wear masks while inside our school buildings through at least June 4. While the CDC has changed its guidance for fully vaccinated people, the agency still recommends schools continue requiring masks through the end of the current school year. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Eau Claire City-County Health Department also supports the CDC guidance on this matter.
This decision to continue our mask requirement will allow us to maintain a safe, consistent, and predictable learning environment for our students with only eight in-person days left. When we decide to re-evaluate or alter our protocols after the official school year is complete and before summer school begins on June 14, we will communicate it to our students, staff, and families well in advance.
We are seeing tremendous progress when it comes to ending this terrible pandemic. Our immediate goal is to successfully complete the next eight in-person days with as many of our students present to learn. Each day with our students is a gift, and we look forward to every minute with them. As always, we appreciate your support and understanding.
