No one is sure just how much money public schools, the UW System, and road projects will see in the next state budget.
The Republicans who control the state legislature will start to craft that budget today. Most of their first moves will be to cast aside the tax and spending increases that Governor Evers has proposed. Wisconsin’s budget is usually about 40-billion-dollars a year, and this year’s budget is expected to be the same. There are questions though about where the state’s three-billion-dollars in federal stimulus money will go. Governor Evers isn’t saying how he will spend that money.
