The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development is ramping up efforts to process its backlog of benefit claims.
Yesterday WKOW reported there are 30-thousand unattended claims. That number doesn’t include 14-thousand who dispute the response to their initial claim. DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek says she is confident the backlog will be handled expediently now that the total of administrative judges is up to 63 now in place compared to the original 17. She says the judges will review the appeals and get rid of the backlog in no time.
