Marijuana will not become legal in Wisconsin this year.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu yesterday said there’s nowhere near enough Republican support to legalize pot. LeMahieu said part of the opposition comes from business owners who worry legal pot will only make the state’s under-employment problem worse. Governor Evers wants to legalize both recreational and medical marijuana. He’s framing it as both a social justice and a revenue issue for the state. LeMahieu says he’d be open to medical marijuana, but only after the federal government legalizes pot and gets it tested.
