Senator Tammy Baldwin is extending her condolences to the family and loved ones of Congressman Alcee Hastings.
The Democrat from Southern Florida passed away today at the age of 84. Baldwin called him a champion for civil rights and said she was honored to work with him in the House. Hastings’ death sets off a battle for his seat in the 20th Congressional District which he had held since 2013. Hastings also represented the 23rd District in Florida from 1993 until 2013.
