The top Republican in the Wisconsin Assembly would rather see people look for work than jump on unemployment in the state.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos yesterday said he’s not in a rush to reinstate the waiver that allowed people to immediately apply for unemployment benefits. Wisconsin requires people to wait a week, and look for work before applying. Vos says there are plenty of jobs in the state, and he fears that extending unemployment benefits will keep people from trying to return to the workforce.
