At approximately 12:05 pm on Friday, February 26th the Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire located at 1858 19th Street in the Town of Rice Lake.
The first fire department unit arrived on-scene at approximately 12:19 pm. A 30′ x 100′ quonset style structure had heavy fire at the north-end of the structure with fire extending at the ceiling level to the south. Strong winds out of the south intensified the fire prior to the arrival of the fire department.
The structure and contents were severely damaged; the estimated dollar loss is placed at $135,000. Two UTV’s, a skid-steer and one passenger vehicle that were in the building at the time were severely damaged..
The preliminary cause of the fire is believed to be accidental attributable to a heat lamp used for care of livestock.
