The people who will write Wisconsin’s budget are telling Governor Evers to get to work on fixing the state’s outdated unemployment computer system.
The legislature’s Joint Finance Committee yesterday agreed to move forward with finding an outside company to overhaul the IT system at the Department of Workforce Development. Governor Evers blames those computers for the months-long delay in getting people their unemployment benefits. Republicans at the Capitol say the governor didn’t need to wait for them to order the changes, and they say he could have acted on his own much sooner.
