An Augusta man charged with animal neglect made his first court appearance yesterday.
A five-hundred-dollar signature bond was set for 21-year-old Devin Malcein. He is accused of failing to provide proper animal shelter and sanitation for confined animals and failing to provide proper food and water. Back in October, inspectors with the Department of Agriculture found twelve animal carcasses on his property, along with insufficient food and water and shelter.
If convicted, Malcein faces up to 27 months behind bars and up to 30-thousand-dollars in fines.
