The freshman class at UW-Eau Claire this year is larger than expected, but university leaders say there is an enrollment cliff coming.

University Chancellor James Schmidt spoke at yesterday’s Virtual Business Community Breakfast. He said there is a cliff for all of higher education coming in 2025 because that is the first year of much smaller high school graduating classes. To counter that, Schmidt says UW-Eau Claire is expanding its student search into Minnesota and trying to target students who they think would be a good fit for the campus in Eau Claire.
