D.C. is increasing security measures around the Capitol. Mayor Muriel Bowser says they’re getting ready for more protests ahead of the January 20th inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy adds that National Guard members may be allowed to carry guns while reinforcing the local police. This comes after rioters broke into the Capitol building forcing Congress to stop electoral vote certification as lawmakers took cover. Five people including a police officer died after a mob stormed the Capitol.
