Election Cliff Notes: WI Ruling Expected This Morning; Recount Money Held; Biden Plans National Address

Time is running-out for President Trump’s legal battle in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to deliver a ruling this morning on President Trump’s lawsuit that wants to toss over 200-thousand ballots. The court heard arguments in the case on Saturday. Wisconsin’s presidential electors are supposed to vote today. The president says Wisconsin skirted state law last month, and that opened the door to massive voter fraud.

Wisconsin’s usually perfunctory Electoral College vote has a bit more to it this year. Electors are supposed to meet and vote at noon at the State Capitol. They will, as of now, vote for Joe Biden. He won the state by more than 21 thousand votes. After the electors vote today, Congress will certify the Electoral College on January 6th.

Election managers in Milwaukee and Madison are waiting to get their recount money. The legislature’s Joint Finance Committee last week said it is placing a hold on the money President Trump paid to count the ballots a second time here in Wisconsin. The president paid three million-dollars for a recount in Milwaukee and Dane counties. Lawmakers on the committee are not saying why they are holding on to the money.

On the national level, President-elect Joe Biden will address America following a meeting of the Electoral College.  He’ll speak from Wilmington, Delaware at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, which is 7:00 our time.

Biden is reportedly going to talk about “the strength and resilience of our democracy.”  Biden’s address will come after the Electoral College  casts the formal votes for President of the United States.
