We now know the name of the woman involved in this crash.
UPDATE 11/29/20: The driver who was killed in this crash is identified as Misty Thostenson, of Gleason, WI. Thostenson was the lone occupant of the vehicle and it was determined through the investigation that she had been in the area visiting friends for the Thanksgiving holiday.
An early morning crash turns deadly.
It happened on Friday, November 27th, a bit after 3:30 in the morning when, the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle crash with injury in the S7400 block of HWY 27, in the Township of Bridge Creek. The Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Augusta Police Department, arrived on scene and found the driver to be trapped inside the vehicle. A Deputy and an Augusta Police Officer were able to start life saving measures until Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and took over. The driver, a 46 year old female, was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was northbound on HWY 27 near County Road V, when it left the roadway and entered the east ditch, striking a tree. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
