There are more people dying in car accidents in Wisconsin this year despite fewer cars being on the road.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportations reports 518 traffic-related deaths so far this year, an increase of 33 compared to all of last year. They say the main reasons are speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving and fewer people wearing seat belts.
Officer Josh Miller of the Eau Claire Police Department says it’s important for drivers to stay focused on the road and slow down as weather conditions get worse this winter.
