Police are investigating the theft of a rare and valuable pine tree from the University of Wisconsin Arboretum.
The 25-foot Algonquin Pillar Swiss Mountain pine was cut down sometime between November 5th and November 9th. The tree was planted in 1988 on Arboretum Drive, east of Wingra Street. A white fir close by also had a 12-foot section cut off the top and left behind. Damages to the tree are worth around 13-thousand-dollars. Anyone with information is asked to call the university police.
