Governor Tony Evers’ cap on crowds at bars, restaurants, and stores across the state is dead, for now.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear arguments in the case, essentially shutting the door on the governor’s 25 percent limit. The governor argued that the cap was necessary to limit the spread of the coronavirus, but the state’s Tavern League and a handful of local bars said the cap would do nothing more than put them out of business. An appeals court sided with the Tavern League last month. The caps were supposed to expire tomorrow.
