Wisconsin’s top Republican in the State Assembly says the state needs a new plan for the coronavirus.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos yesterday told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that what the state is doing right now isn’t working. Vos said he wants to see more rapid antigen tests. Vos also said he’s open to another coronavirus stimulus package, but wants to see Governor Evers spend the money that Wisconsin got from the first package before asking for more money.
Meanwhile, we will soon know if Governor Tony Evers can order more lockdowns and restrictions.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court yesterday agreed to take-up a challenge to the governor’s orders that require people to wear masks and/or put limits on crowds at bars, restaurants, and most stores in the state. The court’s four conservative members say there is a question to be answered about the balance of power between the governor and the legislature. The court’s three liberal members yesterday said the question is whether people who don’t like the governor can simply use the courts to fight his policies.
Arguments are set in the case for November 16th.
