It could be a very late Election Night for some city and county clerks in Wisconsin.
The state’s Election Commission on Friday sent all two thousand clerks and commissioners in the state a memo explaining what must be done on Election Day, and what can wait a few days. The memo says all ballots must be counted before local election managers can go home for the night. In some cases that will be after midnight. There are other deadlines that are required by law, some of those are also must-do’s on Election Day.
Wisconsin’s vote total, however, won’t be finalized and certified until December 1st.
