Eau Claire County is turning to a former prosecutor to help in the investigation into the county’s Department of Human Services.
Rich White is being brought on-board to assist Sheriff Ron Cramer in his investigation into missing and misspent money at DHS. The decision to hire an outside attorney is a change, the county board has rejected other efforts to investigate DHS. There are questions about theft, and about seven-and-a-half million-dollars in possibly misspent money over the past three years.
The sheriff says workers at DHS have been uncooperative.
