The U.S. has a three-digit suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline thanks to U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin who co-sponsored the bill.
President Trump signed it into law this week. People can call 9-8-8 to be directed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or the Veterans Crisis Line.
The suicide rate in Wisconsin is on the rise and has increased by 40-percent from 2000 to 2017. The hotline is not yet active, but Baldwin is pushing the F-C-C to get it up and running as soon as possible.
