Wauwatosa’s weekend curfew is set to end this morning. The city has told people to get off the streets from 7 p.m. til 6 a.m. since Thursday when prosecutors in Milwaukee decided not to bring charges against a local officer for shooting and killing Alvin Cole back in February.
Wauwatosa Police arrested dozens of people over the weekend for violating the curfew. The crowds that were out in the street last night were the smallest of the weekend.
Neighbors say at first they were afraid a tour bus that showed up on their street in a line of humvees and armored trucks might be filled with protesters or rioters.
Dianne Crowley lives in Wauwatosa. Protests turned into riots last week when no charges were filed against a Wauwatosa police officer who shot and killed a man while on duty, his third killing as a cop. An investigator recommended he should be fired.
