Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are once again demanding the legislature come back to Madison and overrule the governor.
Governor Evers yesterday ordered all bars, restaurants, and most stores in the state to limit their customers to 25 percent of capacity. Republican Senator Steve Nass says lawmakers must go back to the Capitol and strike down the order. He says the governor is once again using power he doesn’t have. Governor Evers says the crowd limits are necessary to slow the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, when it comes to rating Wisconsin’s governor is getting a passing grade in the latest report card on state finances.
The Cato Institute released its report on Monday. Cato gave Governor Tony Evers a C. The report credits Evers for agreeing to a tax cut for middle class homeowners, but dings him for pushing to tax and spend more. Evers’ C is better than the F that Illinois’ and Michigan’s governors both got. But it is far worse than the A that Iowa’s governor received.
