We are hearing a lot about a surge in Wisconsin Coronavirus cases. As of today, here is what we are learning.
COVID-19 claims the lives of 27 Wisconsinites as the state set a one-day record. Department of Health officials say the death toll stands at 13-hundred-and-27.
Over 23-hundred cases were reported today, bring the state total over 127-thousand cases. Currently 81-percent of all hospital beds statewide are being used and over 79-percent of ICU beds are occupied mostly with COVID patients.
Specifically, those biggest increases are currently in the southern parts of our state. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says hospitals in the Fox Valley, Green Bay and Wausau are near capacity. Some hospitals are being forced to transfer patients to other facilities in the state. Nearest to us, Aspirus Healthcare in Wausau recorded a 30-percent increase in coronavirus patients yesterday from Monday.
Another COVID-19 related death is being reported in La Crosse County. That’s according to local health officials. This marks the fifth death in La Crosse County since the beginning of the pandemic. Meanwhile, the county currently has 127 active cases.
Here, closer to our area, Dunn County has its first coronavirus related death. Health officials say the victim was an elderly person. Dunn County currently has 202 active cases. There has been a total of just over six-hundred cases since the pandemic began.
