Trick or Treat…at a Safe 6 Feet

Trick or Treat…at a Safe 6 Feet

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services yesterday recommended against trick-or-treating this year.

DHS says going house-to-house is not a good idea in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, and that kids and parents will be outside doesn’t matter. DHS says there is a risk of spreading the virus. Ultimately, it will be up to local cities and towns to decide about trick-or-treating.

This, as the CDC is out with new guidance for Halloween in hopes of preventing trick-or-treating becoming a super spreader event.  It says some of the high risk activities to avoid include traditional trick-or-treating, with treats handed out at homes or from cars.

Health experts also say people should not attend crowded indoor costume parties or indoor haunted houses, attend hayrides or tractor rides with people who are not from your household, or travel to a rural fall festival.

Here locally, we will keep you posted on the plans for our community Halloween events.
