Speed a Factor in Knapp Crash

Speed appears to be a factor in a Knapp accident.

It was on September 17, 2020, about 11:54 AM the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Menomonie Fire and ambulance along with Mayo Helecopter were dispatched to USH 12 at CTH Q (s) in the Village of Knapp for a one vehicle crash with significant injury.


The initial crash investigation shows that a 1993 Cheverolet truck operated by 25 year old female was northbound on CTH Q and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle continued northbound across USH 12 and entered the ditch. The vehicle then struck a tree and entered the Mattison construction property were it struck the a pile of new guard rail sections.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by Menomonie Fire. The driver was flown from the scene by Mayo Helecopter to Mayo- Eau Claire. The drivers condition appears to be life threatening. The driver was wearing her seatbelt, and speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.
