Chippewa County Health Director Angela Weideman says there’s misinformation about a proposed coronavirus ordinance being discussed today, spreading on social media.
Weideman says a proposed ordinance does not grant public health officials’ the power to prosecute people for not following through with mitigation strategies. She says the proposal does make changes to language in the ordinance around communicable disease, clarifying definitions like physical and social distancing and mass gathering, but despite the clarification the ordinance did not pass in Chippewa County.
