The head of Wisconsin’s election clerk’s association says there will simply be too many absentee ballots in November for many clerks to handle.
Oconomowoc City Clerk Diane Coenen yesterday said the difference between the two will lead to delays and possibly problems on Election Day. Coenen is also the head of the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association. She says changing state law to allow clerks to count ballots before the polls close could help. Coenen said Wisconsin’s elections are designed for people to vote at the polls. A switch to voting by mail will be a difficult transition.
When it comes to the names we might see on the ballot…The recommendation is to not allow Kanye West on the November ballot here in Wisconsin. Staffers at the state’s Election Commission came to that conclusion yesterday, the full commission will vote tomorrow. Staffers say West did not meet Wisconsin’s 5 p.m. deadline two weeks ago to file his campaign paperwork.
West’s lawyers say they filed the paperwork at 14 seconds after 5. State law says no later than 5 p.m.
