Traffic Stop Leads to OWI

A defective headlamp lead to an OWI over the weekend.

29 year old Marisa Lane Aselson, from Chippewa Falls, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16.

Aselson was traveling on USH 53 south of Melby Street when she was stopped by a WI State Patrol Trooper for operating a vehicle with a defective headlamp. Aselson displayed signs of impairment and there was an 8 year old child in the back seat. Subsequent investigation and evaluation indicated that Aselson was operating under the influence of prescription medications.

Arrangements were made for someone to pick up the child, and Aselson was transported to Mayo Eau Claire for an evidentiary blood draw which she refused. Aselson was charged with OWI 1st with a minor in the vehicle and later released to a responsible party.
