The reason why Wisconsin’s coronavirus hospitalization numbers are all over the place is because there are problems with tracking just how many people are being treated for the virus.
The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said 294 people are in the hospital with the virus, 111 are in the ICU. But those numbers come with the admission from DHS Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk that the data on hospitalizations is “not yet completely accurate.”
The problems date back to last month when the federal government streamlined reporting into just one system. Willems Van Dijk says the state hopes to have the data corrected soon.
