Governor Tony Evers is naming the Wisconsin Historical Society Library reading room in honor of former Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson.
The governor today signed an executive order recognizing her career and legacy of 43 years on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Abrahamson was appointed to the State High Court in 1976, becoming the first woman to serve on the court. She was also the first woman to serve as Chief Justice 20 years later in 1996.
