SUSPECTS TURN THEMSELVES IN FOR ATTACK ON WI LAWMAKER

The manhunt for the two women who led the attack on a Wisconsin state lawmaker is over.

Madison Police say 26-year-old Samantha Hamer and 33-year-old Kerida O’Reilly turned themselves in yesterday. They are looking at initial charges of battery and robbery. State Senator Tim Carpenter, a Milwaukee Democrat, said the two led a crowd in beating him after he took a picture of what turned-out to be a very violent protest last month. Hamer and O’Reilly were in Dane County’s jail as of last night.

Meanwhile, the static at our capitol continues. Madison’s police officers say they no longer have any confidence in the city mayor. The Madison Professional Police Officers Association yesterday said they were misled into supporting Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway last year.

Yesterday, the union said the mayor has created an ‘us versus them’ mindset in Madison, and does not support the job that the officers are trying to do. Rhodes-Conway shot back yesterday afternoon saying the police officers are the ones trying to make this a political fight, and said she is trying to lead the community to re-imagine what policing will be in the future.
