WI SEES CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS JUMP UP

The latest coronavirus snapshot in Wisconsin shows both the number of people testing positive for the virus, and the number of people in the hospital are growing.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 830 positive tests and just over seven-thousand negative tests. That’s enough to push the daily positive-test-rate to just over 10-percent. Hospitalizations are up as well. DHS says 339 people are in the hospital because of the virus, and 99 of them are in the ICU.

Wisconsin’s top infectious disease doctor says the state is seeing generalized community spread’ of the coronavirus.

Doctor Ryan Wetsergaard said on UPFRONT over the weekend that means communities across the state are seeing positive coronavirus tests even if there isn’t a local hotspot. Westergaard once again said masks are the best defense against the virus’ spread. He said the goal is to get 90-percent of people to wear masks when they are out in public.
