The man at the center of last summer’s standoff at a Chippewa Falls motel is not heading to prison.
A judge yesterday instead sentenced him to a state mental hospital for four-and-a-half years. The man called 911 from the Indianhead Motel back in August of last year and said he had a gun. A SWAT Team shot him as they tried to arrest him. It’s not clear if he really did have a gun. The judge found the man not guilty by mental defect.
