MN COP CHARGED IN DEATH OF GEORGE FLOYD

A fired Minnesota cop is being charged with third-degree murder in the killing of an unarmed black man.  Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced the charges against Derek Chavin this afternoon.

Chauvin is the officer who was filmed with his knee on the neck of George Floyd on Memorial Day.  Police responded to a convenience store in the area after someone called 911 claiming a person believed to be Floyd used a counterfeit bill and appeared drunk.

Here across the state border, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says what America witnessed happening to George Floyd in Minneapolis was not law enforcement.

Kaul calls the actions of police, torture and murder.  In a statement today Kaul says justice demands that those involved in this “depraved crime” be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
