A group of protesters is calling for the removal of some of the more severe coronavirus restrictions. WMTV reports that Capitol Police estimate around 15-hundred people gathered outside the state capitol yesterday to voice their view that it is time for Wisconsin to reopen for business.
The report says the Rally To ReOpen Wisconsin protesters claim some will find it tough to recover from the negative impact on their livelihood particularly those who own and work in small businesses considered to be non essential. Counter protesters were on hand as well holding signs that said, “Reopen Kills.”
As the order is in place, police in Milwaukee say officers will begin citing violators of Governor Tony Evers’ newly extended Safer at Home rules. Police officials say citations will be handed out starting May 2. Anyone found committing crimes will be arrested for the criminal activity and also be cited for violating the Safer at Home measure.
The JBS meat packing company in Green Bay is on a reduced production schedule due to coronavirus infected workers. As of yesterday, there have been nearly 190-confirmed cases among employees and those who have direct contact with employees at the site. Brown County health officials say more cases are being reported in part because of an aggressive coronavirus testing program of employees that has been up and running at the plant since Monday. They say the positive tests are primarily due to community spread.
