VETO PEN APPROACHES THE BENCH

Wisconsin’s Supreme Court will decide just how powerful the governor’s veto pen really is.

The high court is set to hear arguments at 9:30 this morning in the case Bartlett vs. Evers. The case will decide if Governor Evers went too far when he used his veto pen to spend more money than the legislature agreed to spend.

Governors can cut spending, but the power to spend more has traditionally lied with the legislature.
