Two Wisconsin Sheriff’s are speaking out against Governor Tony Evers’ extension of the coronavirus shutdown.
Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling and Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt released separate statements voicing their disagreement with Governor Evers’ extension through May 26 of the non essential business shut down and stay home order. In a Facebook post Friday, Sheriff Schmaling said he won’t enforce the order calling it an unconstitutional overreach. In a statement yesterday, Sheriff Schmidt called on the Governor to relax restrictions using common sense to provide Wisconsonites with the solid hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Meanwhile, citizens showed up to say the same as dozens of protesters are calling for an end to coronavirus stay-at-home measures. The one-hundred or so protesters held a Liberate Wisconsin rally yesterday in Brookfield. The group voiced rejection of Governor Tony Evers’ announcement.
The protesters claim the coronavirus prevention measures have become an erosion of civil liberties and that they are causing financial ruin for many.
