COVID-19 UPDATES: NATIONAL COUNT, STIMULUS STATUS & STATE UPDATE

The number of coronavirus-related deaths is now more than 53-thousand around the world, with more than one million confirmed infections.  Currently, the United States reported the highest daily death toll of any country so far. According to the data from Johns Hopkins University, more than 210-thousand people have recovered from the disease, including nine-thousand in the US.

What about the money? Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says financial relief for the coronavirus fallout will arrive this month AND payments will go into direct deposit accounts within two weeks.  Mnuchin also reminded people who receive Social Security they don’t need to file tax returns to get their share.  The payments are part of the economic stimulus package enacted last month. 

America’s top infectious disease expert says there should be a nationwide stay-at-home order.  Dr. Anthony FOW-chee has said he doesn’t understand why there isn’t a national lockdown, given how the coronavirus is spreading in this country.  

The number of people sick with the coronavirus in Wisconsin crossed another threshold. The state’s Department of Health says just over 18-hundred people in the state are sick with the virus. Thirty seven people have died from the virus.

There are a few more people sick in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties. The latest coronavirus count shows that 14 people are now sick in Eau Claire County. Another eleven people are sick in Chippewa County. Dunn County continues to report just three coronavirus cases.
