You can still light your grill and your backyard fire pit, but larger fires in some Chippewa County communities are out of bounds for now.
The Chippewa Fire District yesterday announced it is banning most fires. The move follows an order from DNR. Hallie, Howard, Lafayette, Wheaton, and the village of Lake Hallie are all covered by the order. Fire Chief Scott Bernette says the ban includes burning in barrels as well.
