As many of us follow the Safer at Home guidelines and are staying at home, what about those in our community without a home? Beginning Saturday, March 28, Catholic Charities Sojourner House is moving the shelter to the Hobbs Municipal Ice Center/O’Brien Rink located at 915 Menomonie Street, Eau Claire. For the first couple of nights, adult men and women experiencing homelessness will be asked to meet at the Sojourner House at 5:30 pm and transported to the Hobbs Municipal Ice Center. Starting Monday, March 30, guests will be asked to report directly to the Hobbs Municipal Ice Center. Hours of Operation will be 7:00 pm – 8:00 am, seven days a week until it is safe to return to the original space. The temporary arrangement was do to the work of many coming together to benefit our community, including The City of Eau Claire, and Dale Peters, Tom Wirth, Eau Claire County, The Red Cross for supplying cots for our guests to use and staff to help with the move. Chilson Automotive for the use of a vehicle to transport supplies and many volunteers and staff members who assisted in the transition of our supplies. There is also still a need volunteers that can help keep the shelter open and provide services to the homeless.
