We now know more details of the car removed from a river.
It was on March 20th just before 3am. When the Eau Claire Communications Center received information about a vehicle that had entered the Chippewa River. A witness had observed a vehicle travel westbound on Gilbert Avenue and enter the Chippewa River.
Despite delays due to high water, crews worked to recover the vehicle and continued investigation showed that the car did not brake before entering the water. The vehicle was occupied by 21 year old Chloe T Zielke, a resident of Eau Claire and a student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
At this time no criminal acts are believed to be associated. The incident remains under investigation.
