EVERS SIGNS NEW OWI LAWS

Wisconsin is getting tougher on repeat drunk drivers.

Governor Tony Evers on Friday signed two new laws to help keep people who continue to drink and drive off the streets. One new law requires an 18 month prison sentence for someone’s fifth or sixth OWI. The governor also signed a law to revoke the driver’s license of anyone convicted of their fourth OWI.

Lawmakers say the hope with the new laws is to scare people into staying sober behind the wheel rather than sending more people to jail or prison.
