Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt discusses the need to focus on mental health issues after last week’s Molson Coors attack.
In a statement, Sheriff Schmidt calls for community members and leaders to address the increase in mental health affliction and needs and avoid politicizing tragedies such as that which happened at the brewery. Sheriff Schmidt says members of law enforcement agencies contend with mental health issues up to a point and where resources allow.
He said it isn’t known whether the brewery shooter suffered from a mental health issue but he believes besides health professionals and law enforcement, families and teachers can provide “stable, supportive and disciplined environments for our loved ones.”
